Beading: 7-strand zigzag weave

A. (Rather than endless repetition of colour 1, colour 2, colour 3, I shall use the colours in the diagrams.) On a knotted thread, thread 1 red, 2 orange, 2 violet, 2 yellow, 2 indigo, 2 green and 3 blue. Thread the needle through the second blue bead in the opposite direction.
Thread 2 blue, 1 indigo, thread needle back through second indigo bead threaded in A.

Thread 2 green, 1 violet, thread needle back through second violet bead threaded in A.

Thread 2 yellow, 1 red, thread needle back through first red (and first bead) threaded in A.

Thread 3 orange beads, and thread needle back through the second orange bead.

Thread 2 orange, 1 yellow, and thread the needle back through the second yellow bead threaded in B.

Thread 2 red, 1 green, and thread the needle back through the second green bead threaded in B.
Thread 2 violet, 1 blue, and thread the needle back through the second violet threaded in B.

Thread 3 indigo, and thread needle back through second indigo bead threaded in C.

Thread 2 indigo, 1 violet, and thread needle back through second violet bead threaded in C.

Thread 2 blue, 1 red, and thread needle back through second red bead threaded in C.

Thread 2 green, 1 orange, and thread the needle through the second orange of 2 threaded in C.

Row 5. Thread 3 yellow, back though 2nd yellow; 2 yellow, 1 green, thr. 2nd green; 2 orange, 1 blue, thr. 2nd blue; 2 red, 1 indigo, thr. 2nd indigo.

Row 6. Thread 3 violet, back thr. 2nd violet; 2 violet, 1 red, thr. 2nd red; 2 indigo, 1 orange, thr. 2nd orange, 2 blue, 1 yellow, thr. 2nd yellow.

Row 7. 3 green, back through 2nd green; 2 green, 1 blue, back thr. 2nd blue; 2 yellow, 1 indigo, back thr. 2nd indigo; 2 orange, 1 violet, back thr. 2nd violet.

Row 8. 3 red, back thr. 2nd red; 2 red, 1 orange, back thr. 2nd orange; 2 violet, 1 yellow, back thr. 2nd yellow; 2 indigo, 1 green, back thr. 2nd green.

Row 9. 3 blue, back thr. 2nd blue; 2 blue, 1 indigo, back thr. 2nd indigo; 2 green, 1 violet, back thr. 2nd violet; 2 yellow, 1 red, back thr. 2nd red.

Row 10. 3 orange, back thr. 2nd orange; 2 orange, 1 yellow, back thr. 2nd yellow; 2 red, 1 green, back thr. 2nd green; 2 violet, 1 blue, back thr. 2nd blue.

Row 11. 3 indigo, back thr. 2nd indigo; 2 indigo, 1 violet, back thr. 2nd violet; 2 blue, 1 red, back thr. 2nd red; 2 green, 1 orange, back thr. 2nd orange.

Row 12 … as Row 5, except that the point is on the opposite side of the band.

You will notice again that the colours always remain in the same relationship to each other: Red passes “over” orange and “under” yellow. Orange passes “over” yellow and “under” green … and so on.
